First Aid Courses:

Corporate First Aid at Work (4 days)
The course covers 4 full days and combines theory with hands-on practical exercises.At the end of the course, candidates will have covered aims and objectives of first aid, first aid priorities, managing an incident, prioritizing casualties, examining a casualty, basic life support, dealing with an unconscious casualty, controlling bleeding, common medical emergencies, e.g. epilepsy, asthma, stroke, etc., heart attacks, eye injuries, shock, dressings, fractures, dislocations and sprains, management of burns and scalds, casualty handling, recording and reporting, first aid kits and contents, and regulations.

Corporate First Aid at Work Refresher (2 days)
This course is designed for those who have completed the 4-day First Aid at Work course. Candidates must provide a valid First Aid at Work certificate on arrival.

The course is designed for those who need to refresh their skill, and can be undertaken up to 3 months before certificate expiry. On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a new certificate valid from the date of expiry of the old one, after which they are qualified as First Aiders in the Workplace for a further 3 years.

Corporate First Aid - Appointed Person (1 day)
This course offers a basic but essential introduction to life-saving first aid, and is aimed at those working in low-risk environments that have little or no first aid experience.

For employers and small businesses, this 1-day course offers the basic level of cover in first aid training to groups of delegates, and includes both theory and practical first aid sessions in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

As with all our first aid courses, we encourage participants to get hands-on practice in perfecting the skills that could save lives in an emergency situation.

During the day, participants will cover the following subjects:

  • Aims and objectives of first aid.
  • Managing an incident.
  • Prioritizing casualties.
  • Examining a casualty.
  • Basic life support.
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty.
  • Controlling bleeding.
  • Fractures, dislocations and sprains.
  • Management of burns and scalds.
  • Recording and reporting.
  • First aid kits and contents.
  • Regulations.

Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
This course aims to ensure that all team members can identify and deal with clinical emergencies within the workplace, and safely use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

The course includes dealing with unconscious casualties, airway obstructions, and respiratory and circulatory arrest. Participants will have the opportunity to practice Basic Life Support (BLS) and the correct use of AEDs.

The course has been designed for any team member who may be called upon as a "First Responder" in an emergency situation.

The following are covered:

  • Safety Hazards.
  • Care of an unconscious casualty.
  • Airway management.
  • Basic Life Support (theory and practical).
  • Basic understanding of the heart and conduction systems.
  • Basic cardiac arrhythmia's.
  • Safe use of AED.
  • Care, maintenance and record keeping of AED.
  • Post-resuscitation care.
  • Resuscitation equipment.
  • Legal and ethical issues.
